May Executive Board

On May 23rd, 2026, Eco MoCo hosted the last Executive Board Meeting of the 2025-2026 term. During this, the former Co-President Lorena Wu presented “State of Eco MoCo” which was composed of her gratitude of being able to work with Eco MoCo due to all the opportunities it’s presented her with. As well as recognizing the 110 executive board members, 50 chapters worldwide, 65 pieces of content, over 100 pounds of trash collected, and awarded upwards of 200 community service hours. After this speech, we commemorated the 19 Eco MoCo members graduating High School through a senior sendoff. We wish Peter Boyko, one of Eco MoCo’s founders, an amazing time at the University of California, Los Angeles! As the last item on our agenda, members voted for Eco MoCo’s 2026-2027 Officers. Starting with 13 candidates, it ended with 5 officers. Congratulations going out to:

  • Sidharth Harishanker as Co-President
  • Jeremy Zhang as Vice President
  • Daniel Ortiz as Secretary
  • Gloria Dwemoh as Treasurer

Eco MoCo Richard Montgomery Chapter Bake Sale

Eco MoCo Richard Montgomery Chapter hosted a Bake Sale Fundraiser at Rockville Town Center on May 30th. The chapter raised $150+, which was donated to the Orianne Society. In the words of Chapter President Prachi Tyagi, it was “a very successful first donation sale”. A special thanks went out to everyone who baked these amazing sweets and made the event possible!

June Executive Board Meeting

Our June Executive Board Meeting, hosted on June 14th, was a huge success! To kick off the gathering, members were able to network and bond with one another to then gather research for a live debate on key environmental issues. Next, all departments got together to get to know each other - setting goals and planning for projects they may take part in during the upcoming year. Stay tuned!

Summer Kickoff

On August 8th, Eco MoCo hosted its annual Summer Kickoff to celebrate the new executive board and kick off the new school year with a bang! The Kickoff began with two extremely helpful workshops. The first by Workshop Deputies Alina Yu and David Kim taught members how to confidently speak to the public, and the second, by Secretary Daniel Ortiz, covered how to Build Your Own Eco MoCo Chapter. Following the workshops, the board members then headed to Lake Needwood to have a fun time bonding through group boating. To finish off the day, members then paired up in groups and moved around the surrounding area to pick up trash. In total, Eco MoCo was able to pick up 150+ pounds of trash, helping maintain the cleanliness and sustainability of our local community parks.
