The July Executive Board Meeting was the very first Eco MoCo meeting for the 2024-2025 year! It was so exciting to meet the officers as well as the department directors and deputies. After a fun little ice breaker game, the officers introduced a project called the Green Eats cookbook. Eco MoCo partnered with Food to Flourish and decided to create a cookbook that would be all about encouraging healthy eating and sustainability.
Eco MoCo members were given an opportunity to create healthy and sustainable recipes or educational activity pages to add to the cookbook. This was the perfect chance for us to spread the word about the most important issues affecting the environment- including food waste and pollution. Although many of us think that the public is well educated about the environment problems present today, we would be surprised to see how many people actually aren't aware about these issues. The cookbook will be published sometime in October or November, so be on the lookout!
The next thing on the agenda was department breakout rooms. Each of the departments discussed their goals and action plan for the year. Once we regrouped, we shared our summaries with each other. This featured future trash pickups, fundraisers, and community events. Overall, it was a very successful and engaging first meeting for the year!
