Eco MoCo had its annual Summer Kick Off on August 2nd, 2025 to kick start its new 2025- 2026 Executive Board. The Summer Kick Off was held at the Lake Needwood, and was a special chance for new and returning executive board members to meet and talk to other members across departments. The Summer Kick Off started off with a few engaging icebreakers to allow members the opportunity to get to know each other. After the icebreaker activities, executive members participated in an informative leadership workshop led by Eco MoCo Environmental Education Director Mohamed Benmansour. During the workshop, divided groups were able to come up with a plan for how they would use $5000 to solve an important environmental problem at their school. After the first activity, new groups were formed again and divided for the members to debate about an assigned environmental issue. Following the productive debates, executive members were able to participate in a trash pick up. We had an extremely successful trash pick up that day. The Eco MoCo Executive Board picked up a total of 275 pounds of trash by the end of the event which is truly incredible.

After , the executive members were able to enjoy the nice weather and boat on the beautiful Lake Needwood. Once everyone was done with boating, the members were able to relax, eat pizza, bond with other executive members, and listen to FE!N by Travis Scott (our favorite song). This year’s Summer Kick Off was an energetic and informative event where members of the new executive board were able to bond and learn about important leadership skills. We are excited for the work that our executive members will accomplish and look forward to the impact that Eco MoCo will make on our community this year!
